Patna: A very emotional and serious incident took place on Tuesday morning on Gandhi Setu in Patna, when a schoolgirl was seen walking alone on the bridge in a disturbed state of mind. She was wearing her school uniform and looked frightened and confused. People passing by noticed that her behaviour was not normal. She kept walking close to the railing of the bridge, which made many feel that something was wrong, but at first no one knew how serious the situation was.
After some time, a few people gathered the courage to speak to her. When they asked her why she was alone on the bridge, she suddenly became more upset. In a shocking moment, she tried to jump off the bridge. This caused panic among the people standing nearby. Many shouted for help and rushed towards her to stop her from falling. Within seconds, the calm morning turned into a tense and frightening scene.
Luckily, a Dial-112 police vehicle was passing nearby and noticed the crowd. The police officers immediately stopped and ran to the spot. With the help of local people and some brave women, they carefully pulled the girl away from the edge. The girl was crying and saying she did not want to go anywhere. She appeared to be under great mental pressure. After a lot of effort, the police were able to take her safely into their vehicle.
When the police tried to speak to her, the girl broke down emotionally and said, “I don’t have parents, so what can I tell you?” Later she added, “I will tell my problems when my parents come.” These words showed that she was suffering deeply because of family-related stress. She was taken to the police station, where she is now being given counselling. The police are using details from her school bag to find her parents and family. This incident has once again shown how important it is to care for the mental health of children and teenagers, and how timely help can save a precious life.
