Patna: Bihar is moving steadily towards becoming a strong industrial state, as the government plans to set up two new Special Economic Zones in West Champaran and Buxar. These zones are part of a larger effort to boost factories, businesses and job opportunities across the state. So far, around 1,285 acres of land has already been acquired for industrial development, showing that the government is serious about building a modern industrial base in Bihar.
The two Special Economic Zones will be developed on 250 acres of land, with 125 acres in Kumar Bagh of West Champaran and 125 acres in Nawanagar of Buxar. The total investment for these projects is expected to be around Rs 300 crore. Once these zones are ready, many companies from different parts of India and even from abroad are expected to set up their units here. This will help in creating lakhs of new jobs, especially for local youth, who often have to leave Bihar to find work.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that Bihar is fast becoming an industrial hub under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He pointed out that the state has already seen big changes with the coming of new industries such as IT hubs and plans for a semiconductor factory. According to him, the government has set a goal to provide jobs and employment to one crore people between 2025 and 2030. He also said that Bihar has already provided more than 57 lakh jobs between 2005 and 2025, which shows the state is moving in the right direction.
Industry Minister Dr Dilip Jaiswal said the aim of these new projects is to change the image of Bihar from a backward state to a growing economic centre. He believes that with the setting up of Special Economic Zones, investors from different states and countries will come to Bihar. This will help not just the two selected districts, but also nearby areas, as more business activity will bring better roads, services and more employment.
The location of these two zones has also been chosen carefully. West Champaran is close to the Nepal border, which makes it easier to export goods to other countries. Buxar, on the other hand, has good links to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other parts of north India, which will make transport of goods faster and cheaper. Because of this, districts like Gopalganj, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Rohtas, Kaimur and Aurangabad are also expected to grow along with these projects.
Overall, the new Special Economic Zones are being seen as a major step in Bihar’s journey towards industrial growth. If the plans are carried out properly, they could bring more jobs, better incomes and a stronger economy for the state in the coming years.
