Patna: The Meteorological Centre in Patna has issued a yellow alert for several districts of Bihar, warning of dense fog until February 1. Officials have cautioned that visibility may be significantly reduced during early morning and late-night hours, potentially affecting road and rail traffic.
The alert covers West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, and Sheikhpura. Motorists and commuters have been advised to exercise caution, as dense fog could slow down traffic in these areas. Districts in southern and eastern Bihar are expected to experience normal weather conditions.
Temperature records show a slight dip in minimum temperatures over the past 24 hours. Sabour in Bhagalpur recorded the lowest minimum at 10°C, while Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, and surrounding districts reported temperatures ranging between 13°C and 14°C, prolonging the cold during mornings and nights.
The forecast for Patna suggests a gradual warming in the coming days. Partly cloudy skies are expected on January 30 and 31, with clearer skies predicted for February 1 and 2. Maximum temperatures may reach 25–26°C, while minimums are likely to stay around 13–14°C.
The Meteorological Department has urged residents to remain vigilant during foggy conditions, particularly those travelling in the early hours, as the effects of fog are likely to persist even as Bihar gradually emerges from the cold spell.
