Patna: Patna has taken a step toward smoother urban travel with the expansion of the JP Ganga Path. The 20.5-kilometre stretch, previously ending at Kangan Ghat, now extends to Patna City Ghat, offering commuters a quicker and less congested route. The construction of a new Road Over Bridge (ROB) over Ashok Rajpath is also nearing completion, further enhancing accessibility across the city.
The new ROB, located near Marufganj, is part of a broader effort to ease traffic bottlenecks along Ashok Rajpath. Once operational, it will significantly improve access to Patna Sahib Railway Station and surrounding areas. The adjacent roundabout has already been constructed, allowing smoother movement for vehicles navigating the busy city roads.
In addition to the ROB, plans are underway for a four-lane road connecting Ashok Rajpath with the JP Ganga Path near Bans Ghat. This development will enable seamless travel from Aayakar Roundabout via Mandiri Nala to the JP Ganga Path, facilitating easier access to key locations such as PMCH, Gay Ghat, Kangan Ghat, and Dindarganj.
Bihar’s Rural Works Department has also approved 73 new rural road projects across 24 districts under its Rural Connectivity Plan. With an investment of Rs 515 crore, these initiatives will add 254.4 km of roads, strengthening linkages between villages and key district hubs. The projects aim to improve access to essential services and support the state’s broader infrastructure development goals.
