Patna: Maruti Suzuki India has selected 34 students from government polytechnic institutions across Bihar for junior engineer (trainee) roles, offering an annual package of Rs 5 lakh, officials said on Saturday.
The selections were made through a pool placement drive conducted under the Centre of Excellence programme, with the final results released by the state’s department of science, technology and technical education.
According to the department, the recruited students come from mechanical, automobile and fire & safety branches. Of the total, 24 students are from mechanical engineering, while five each are from fire & safety and automobile streams. The selected candidates represent government polytechnics in Chapra, Banka, Barauni (Begusarai), Munger, Patna, Katihar, Nalanda, Kaimur, Jamui, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Gaya and Gopalganj districts.
Officials said the latest recruitment follows strong performance by polytechnic students in a recent placement drive conducted by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, which selected 1,238 candidates from government institutions.
The department said it has been working to align technical education more closely with industry requirements through regular coordination with companies, placement-focused initiatives and skill-based training programmes. A recently held divisional-level industry–institute meet, which brought together representatives from government engineering and polytechnic colleges and industry leaders, was described as a key step in strengthening these links.
“The selection of students by companies such as Maruti Suzuki and Tata reflects sustained efforts to expand employment opportunities for technical students across sectors,” the department said.
