Patna: Patna is on high alert as the Bihar Legislature prepares for its budget session, scheduled from February 2 to February 27. The district administration has intensified law and order, traffic, and security measures in and around the Assembly premises.
Patna District Magistrate Dr Thiyagarajan S.M. conducted a detailed briefing for magistrates and police officers deployed at the Legislature, outlining security protocols and emphasising zero tolerance for negligence during the session.
A three-tier security system has been implemented to monitor the Assembly and surrounding areas. The premises will be under continuous CCTV surveillance, and eight Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been activated to respond to any emergency situations.
Strict instructions have been issued to prevent unauthorised access. No individual or vehicle will be allowed inside the Secretariat, Assembly, or Legislative Council areas without a valid entry pass. Officers and magistrates will be held accountable for any breaches of protocol.
All personnel deployed for the session are required to report to their posts by 9am on February 2 and one hour prior to the start of daily House proceedings. They may leave only after the session concludes each day.
Security operations will be coordinated from a control room at the Assembly, with senior officers overseeing compliance and liaising with deployed staff. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Patna Sadar confirmed that prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure will remain in effect in and around the Assembly throughout the session. Law and order will be maintained under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Officer of Patna Sadar and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Secretariat.
