Patna: A terrible road accident took place on Sunday morning in Bihta, near Patna, the capital of Bihar, leaving five people dead and three seriously injured. A truck moving at high speed rammed into an auto-rickshaw that was carrying members of the same family. They were returning to Bhojpur after visiting the Maner Urs fair when the accident happened. The impact was so strong that the auto-rickshaw was badly damaged, and the passengers were thrown inside and onto the road.
Local people who witnessed the crash said the truck appeared to be out of control. The auto-rickshaw was full of passengers, including men, women and children. Five people, including three men and two women, died on the spot. Three others were badly injured, among them two children. People living nearby rushed to help and tried to pull the injured out of the crushed vehicle before the police arrived.
Soon after the accident, chaos spread across the area. The road was blocked, traffic stopped, and a large crowd gathered. Some people were crying, while others were calling for ambulances. The injured were quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors said their condition remains serious. Many locals said accidents like this are becoming more common because of speeding and careless driving.
The Bihta police reached the scene and began an investigation. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination, and the truck driver is being traced. Officials said they are trying to find out how the accident happened and whether the driver was driving rashly. As the victims’ families mourn their loss, this tragedy has once again raised serious questions about road safety and the need for stricter traffic rules in Bihar.
