Patna: The Government of Bihar has taken another step towards supporting youth employment as 11 interns officially joined the Department of Labour Resources and Migrant Workers Welfare on February 2, 2026. These interns were selected under the Chief Minister Pratigya Yojana, a state-run internship programme aimed at giving young people practical work experience in government offices. The department had advertised 17 internship positions across six different programmes, and after a selection process, 11 candidates were chosen to begin their journey.
The interns come from different academic and professional backgrounds, which shows the wide reach of the scheme. The group includes two Social Media Associates, three Legal and Policy Associates, three Labour Welfare Associates, and three Finance and Accounts Associates. They will now work closely with officers in the department and learn how public welfare schemes are planned and implemented. For many of them, this is their first chance to see how government systems work from inside.
Rajesh Bharti, the Labour Commissioner of Bihar, said that the Pratigya Yojana is a strong effort by the state to connect young people with the administrative system. He explained that the scheme helps youth gain confidence, skills, and real-world knowledge that cannot be learned only in classrooms. He also wished the interns a bright future and said that programmes like this are necessary to prepare young people for better career opportunities.
The scheme also provides a monthly stipend to support interns during their training period. Those who have passed class 12 receive Rs 4,000 per month, ITI or diploma holders get Rs 5,000, and graduates or postgraduates receive Rs 6,000. If an intern is posted outside their home district within Bihar, they receive an extra Rs 2,000 per month for the first three months. For those working outside Bihar, an additional Rs 5,000 per month is given for the full duration. This financial help makes it easier for young people from all backgrounds to participate.
To apply for the CM Pratigya Yojana, candidates must be between 18 and 28 years old and must have at least a class 12 qualification, ITI, diploma, graduate, postgraduate, or a recognised skill certificate. Applicants must be residents of Bihar and have an Aadhaar card. They can register on the official CM Pratigya portal, fill in their details, and apply for up to three internship options. The state government hopes that this scheme will continue to create new opportunities for youth and help them build strong careers in the future.
