Patna: Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is facing a difficult phase in his life after he surrendered before the authorities at Tihar Jail in Delhi in connection with a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. The surrender came after the Delhi High Court refused to give him more time to avoid jail. The court made it clear that there was no legal reason to extend the deadline, and Rajpal Yadav had to present himself before the jail authorities at around 4 pm on Thursday.
At this critical moment, Tej Pratap Yadav has stepped forward to support the actor’s family. He announced that he would provide financial help of Rs 11 lakh. Tej Pratap shared this information through an Instagram post, where he referred to Rajpal Yadav as his “elder brother”. He said he came to know about the family’s suffering through a post by Rao Inderjit Yadav and felt deeply moved by their situation.
In his message, Tej Pratap Yadav wrote that he and the entire Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JJD) family stand with Rajpal Yadav’s family in this time of trouble. He described the situation as extremely painful and said his decision was based purely on human compassion. According to him, the money is meant to help the family manage their immediate needs while the actor deals with the legal consequences of his case.
Earlier, Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer had told the court that the actor had arranged Rs 50 lakh and requested one more week to make the remaining payment. However, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma rejected the request, stating that there was no basis to grant him extra time. With no relief from the court, Rajpal Yadav had no option but to surrender.
The case has drawn wide public attention, not only because of the large amount involved but also because of Rajpal Yadav’s popularity in the film industry. While the legal process will continue, Tej Pratap Yadav’s gesture has brought a small sense of support and hope to the actor’s family during this difficult time.
