Patna: Winter conditions in Bihar have largely returned to normal, with warmer afternoons signalling the gradual end of the cold season, according to the meteorological department.
While early mornings and evenings are no longer sharply cold, bright afternoon sunshine has begun to push temperatures higher. Officials have not issued any warnings but have released a seven-day forecast indicating a steady rise in minimum temperatures.
The department said night-time temperatures could increase by 2C to 3C over the next week, and the cold spell may completely recede by the end of February. Dry weather is expected to persist across the state during this period.
Doctors have urged caution amid fluctuating temperatures, noting that mild chills at night combined with warmer daytime conditions can increase the risk of seasonal flu. Residents have been advised to remain vigilant, particularly vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
Over the past 24 hours, temperatures have risen in most districts. In Patna, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.2C, about 2.1C above normal, while the minimum stood at 16C, 3.3C above normal. Skies remained clear, and the light daytime breeze subsided by evening.
The weather office said conditions in Patna would remain stable, with sunny mornings followed by warmer afternoons. No alerts have been issued for strong winds or renewed cold conditions.
In other major cities, Gayaji recorded a maximum of 29.0C and a minimum of 12.4C; Bhagalpur saw 29.1C and 13.8C; and Muzaffarpur registered 28.8C and 16.2C respectively.
If the current trend continues, officials say Bihar is likely to transition fully into pre-summer conditions in the coming weeks.
