Patna: A crucial meeting was held today at the Commissioner’s office in Patna, focusing on traffic management strategies related to the newly-constructed Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor project. The meeting was chaired by Commissioner Kumar Ravi, with key officials in attendance, including District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajiv Mishra, Superintendent of Police for Traffic, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Danapur, and representatives from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Commissioner Ravi emphasized the significance of the Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor, highlighting its potential to greatly ease commuting for residents and alleviate traffic congestion in the area. He instructed officials to prioritize both immediate and long-term traffic management solutions to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles.
During the meeting, NHAI’s proposal for alternative traffic arrangements during the construction phase was reviewed. Commissioner Ravi directed the district administration to verify these proposals and tasked the Superintendent of Police, Traffic, with assessing their feasibility on-site. He stressed the importance of a coordinated approach, involving regional administrative officers and NHAI officials, to finalize a traffic plan that prioritizes public convenience and safety.
The discussion also covered the implementation of service lanes for smaller vehicles and the identification of critical pressure points, such as Kanhauli Chowk and Bihta Chowk, where traffic flow is particularly heavy. Commissioner Ravi noted that the overbridge near Kanhauli is expected to be completed by September, which will further facilitate smooth transportation.
To support the project, Commissioner Ravi directed officials to address encroachments and consider road widening near Shivala Chowk and Bihta Chowk. He also suggested implementing one-way systems and underpasses as needed and installing clear signage to guide commuters.
Looking ahead, Commissioner Ravi called for a comprehensive traffic assessment to anticipate future needs as the Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor project progresses. He urged the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police to continuously review traffic conditions and implement necessary actions to minimize inconvenience for the public.
