Patna: Bihar is experiencing an early spell of heat, with temperatures rising across several districts and signalling the retreat of winter ahead of Holi.
The state’s weather is expected to remain largely dry over the coming days, according to the Meteorological Centre in Patna. While mornings and evenings are likely to retain a mild chill due to prevailing westerly winds, most regions will see partly cloudy skies.
Officials said a western disturbance is forecast to persist over the western Himalayan region on March 2. As a result, cloud cover is expected to continue in many parts of Bihar, although overall conditions will remain close to seasonal norms.
On Wednesday, Rajgir and Nalanda recorded the lowest minimum temperatures in the state at 12.5C. In contrast, Patna registered a minimum temperature of 18.5C and a maximum of 29C.
The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Kaimur, where the mercury climbed to 31.6C. An increase in daytime temperatures was observed in nine districts, including the state capital, indicating a gradual intensification of heat across the region.
In other major cities, Gaya recorded a maximum temperature of 29C and a minimum of 14C, while Bhagalpur saw temperatures range between 29.4C and 16.7C. Muzaffarpur reported a maximum of 27.8C and a minimum of 17.2C.
With temperatures already touching the 31C mark in some areas, residents are bracing for an early onset of warmer conditions, even as the festival season approaches.
