Patna: A cold wave continued to grip parts of Bihar on Friday even as daytime temperatures rose across much of the state, creating a sharp contrast between chilly mornings and warmer afternoons.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, dry conditions are expected to persist under the influence of westerly winds, with partly cloudy skies forecast in most regions. A mild chill is likely to be felt during the early morning and late evening hours.
Forecasters said the weather is expected to remain largely normal on March 2, although cloud cover may increase due to the impact of a western disturbance over the Himalayan region. No significant fluctuation in temperatures is anticipated over the next two days.
On Thursday, minimum temperatures varied considerably across the state. The lowest reading was recorded at 12.6C in Jiradei in Siwan district, while the state capital, Patna, registered a minimum of 17.2C.
Daytime temperatures, however, climbed in 25 districts, including Patna. The capital recorded a maximum temperature of 29.0C. The highest temperature in the state was reported in Kaimur district, where the mercury reached 31.8C.
Other major cities also saw relatively warm afternoons. Gaya recorded a maximum of 29.8C and a minimum of 14.5C, while Bhagalpur reported 30.0C and 15.2C respectively. In Muzaffarpur, temperatures ranged between 28.4C and 17.2C.
Meteorologists said the prevailing dry spell is likely to continue, with no immediate signs of rainfall across the state.
