Patna: An expert talk on the transformative power of art was organised by the Department of English at Patna Women’s College on February 27, 2026, at Carmel Hall in collaboration with Dakhal Theatre Society and Performing Arts, the session centred on the theme “Art and Awareness” and drew students, theatre enthusiasts and faculty members.

The guest speaker, Anamika Haksar, a noted theatre and film director, addressed the gathering on how artistic expression can serve as a catalyst for social and political change. In her lecture, Haksar spoke about the enduring power of theatre to provoke critical thought and inspire collective action. Drawing on her experiences documenting life in the streets of Old Delhi, she shared anecdotes from her social experiments and community engagements. She reassured students that the rise of artificial intelligence would not diminish the value of creative practice. “The artist will not be destroyed,” she said, emphasising the irreplaceable human impulse behind meaningful art.

She also discussed her debut feature film, Ghode Ko Jalebi Khilane Le Ja Riya Hoon, describing it as an exploration of fragmented urban realities. The session concluded with an interactive segment, where students posed questions on art, activism and the future of performance.
