Patna: The Patna Metro project, set to transform urban mobility across Bihar’s capital, has entered a crucial phase. Officials are working to ensure that the project progresses on schedule while adhering to global standards of safety and quality. Mr. Sandeep Kumar R. Pudkalkatti, Managing Director of the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL) and Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, carried out a detailed inspection of the metro’s underground section on Thursday.
During the visit, Mr. Pudkalkatti reviewed the construction of Rajendra Nagar and Patna University stations along Corridor-2. He closely observed ongoing underground civil works, structural progress, and station designs, while engineers briefed him on completed excavation and concreting efforts.
Emphasising safety and quality, the Managing Director instructed engineers to strictly adhere to technical and safety standards. “Timely completion alone is not enough,” he said. “The project must meet the highest global standards while ensuring passenger safety and structural integrity.”
Mr. Pudkalkatti also directed that all construction work be completed within the prescribed deadlines. He urged officials to accelerate progress without causing undue inconvenience to the public in busy city areas. The administration aims to deliver a modern, efficient, and safe metro system that will ease traffic congestion and transform the commuting experience in Patna.
