Patna: Bihar Police have launched a state-wide security operation ahead of Holi, warning that any lawlessness under the guise of festival celebrations will not be tolerated. Authorities say robust measures have been put in place across all districts to allow citizens to celebrate safely and without fear.
Bihar’s Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, has instructed all district SPs and senior officers to remain vigilant and adopt pre-emptive strategies, particularly in areas with a history of disputes or past festival-related clashes. “Our priority is to ensure law and order, especially in sensitive zones and religious sites,” officials said.
Control rooms have been established in every district, with reports being monitored every two hours. Police will maintain a sharp focus on biker gangs, street racing, and stunt riding, all of which are strictly prohibited during the festival. Measures have also been taken to prevent communal tensions, with additional magistrates and police personnel deployed at potential flashpoints.
Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against anti-social elements, including those spreading rumors or inciting hatred. Surveillance measures, including monitoring of suspected individuals’ mobile communications, will be used if necessary. Special attention will also be paid to criminal gangs targeting travellers and migrant workers, especially on trains, with police instructed to remain alert to incidents involving theft or spiked drinks.
A significant deployment of Range Reserve personnel, Bihar State Armed Police, newly recruited and trainee constables, and Home Guard units has been ordered across the state. Companies of central police forces have also been stationed strategically, with Patna receiving the largest deployment, while districts including Darbhanga, Gaya, Munger, and Buxar have received additional forces according to local needs.
