New Delhi: Apple has launched the MacBook Air 2026 model in India and global markets, introducing upgraded hardware including the new M5 chipset, enhanced AI capabilities and improved connectivity features.
The latest MacBook Air comes in two display sizes — 13 inches and 15 inches — continuing the thin and lightweight design for which the series is known. The 13-inch model weighs 1.23kg while the larger 15-inch version weighs 1.51kg.
Display and performance upgrades
The laptop features a Liquid Retina display supporting up to 500 nits of brightness and 1 billion colours, aimed at delivering sharper visuals and more natural colour reproduction.
At the core of the device is Apple’s new M5 processor, equipped with a 10-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. According to the company, the chip delivers significant improvements in artificial intelligence tasks, making the device up to four times faster than the previous M4 generation for AI workloads.
The MacBook Air 2026 supports up to 32GB of RAM and up to 4TB of SSD storage.
Camera, audio and connectivity
For video calls and online meetings, the laptop includes a 12MP Center Stage camera that automatically adjusts framing during calls and also supports Apple’s Desk View feature. The device is equipped with three microphones and a speaker system with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Apple’s N1 networking chip. The laptop also includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports and supports up to two external displays.
Battery and software
The MacBook Air 2026 is powered by a battery with up to 66.5Wh capacity and supports 70W fast charging. The laptop runs on macOS Tahoe and incorporates Apple Intelligence features designed to enhance productivity and AI-based tasks.
Alongside the MacBook Air, Apple has also introduced the MacBook Pro 2026 models, expanding its updated laptop lineup.
Price and availability
In India, the 13-inch MacBook Air (2026) with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage starts at Rs 1,19,900, while the 15-inch variant with the same configuration is priced at Rs 1,44,900.
The laptop is available in Sky Blue, Midnight, Starlight and Silver colour options.
Pre-orders opened globally on March 4, 2026, with sales scheduled to begin on March 11.
