Patna: Monica Srivastava, a resident of Aurangabad district in Bihar, has secured All-India Rank 16 in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination, marking a significant achievement for the state and her hometown.
Srivastava, who hails from the Satendra Nagar locality of Aurangabad, had previously cleared the civil services examination but did not secure the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Determined to improve her rank, she appeared again and achieved a top position in the latest results.
Her success adds another milestone to a career already marked by strong academic performance and competitive exam achievements.
Academic Excellence And Early Achievements
Srivastava has consistently performed well academically. She secured top positions at the state level in both her class 10 and class 12 examinations before pursuing engineering.
She later completed a degree in computer science engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in 2016. After graduating, she worked with several global companies but remained committed to her long-term goal of entering the civil services.
Success In BPSC Before UPSC

In 2022, Srivastava achieved notable success in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination, finishing first in the women’s category and sixth overall in the state.
She later cleared the UPSC examination and is currently undergoing training as an officer under the Indian Railway Service.
Despite being in training, Srivastava decided to attempt the civil services examination again in pursuit of a higher rank — a decision that ultimately resulted in her securing All-India Rank 16.
Dedication Behind The Achievement
Srivastava attributed her success to discipline, hard work and the encouragement she received from her family.
“My parents always motivated me to move forward and emphasised the importance of education,” she said after the results were announced.
“My father’s dream was that his daughter should become an officer and work for the weaker sections of society. That dream became my biggest inspiration.”
Family Pride

Her father, Brijesh Srivastava, an engineer, expressed pride in his daughter’s achievement, describing it as the result of years of dedication.
Her mother, Bharti Srivastava, also said the family was overwhelmed with happiness after learning of her success.
