Patna: Authorities in Patna have registered a police case against a delivery worker after a consumer complained that a domestic LPG cylinder was marked as delivered despite never reaching his home, prompting the district administration to warn of strict action against malpractice.
The complaint was lodged by a resident of the Digha area who had booked a domestic gas cylinder through M/s Utsav Gas Service Agency in Indrapuri. According to the consumer, the cylinder was expected to be delivered within a few days of the booking but did not arrive.
Despite the absence of any delivery, the consumer said he received a message on his mobile phone confirming that the cylinder had been successfully delivered. When he contacted the agency to seek clarification, he reportedly received no response.
The matter was later reported to the district administration, which ordered an inquiry into the complaint.
Following the investigation, officials registered a first information report (FIR) against the agency’s delivery worker, identified as Mukesh, at Patliputra police station under relevant sections of the law.
The district administration said it would not tolerate any malpractice or fraudulent activity involving LPG consumers. Patna district magistrate said the issue had been taken seriously and stressed that consumers should not face inconvenience in receiving essential supplies.
Officials have also been instructed to act immediately on complaints related to black marketing, hoarding or overpricing of LPG cylinders. The administration warned that FIRs would be filed and arrests made against agencies or individuals found involved in such practices.
Authorities said ensuring consumer convenience and transparency in the distribution system remained a priority and that strict action would be taken against any negligence.
