Jamui/Patna: Bihar’s chief minister, Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday announced development projects worth rs 914 crore in Jamui as part of his ongoing “Samriddhi Yatra”, marking one of the largest single-day rollouts of schemes in the district.

At a public event, Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 370 projects using a remote control, with senior leaders including deputy chief ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha in attendance.

The package includes 181 completed projects worth Rs 602 crore and 189 new schemes valued at Rs 312 crore. The initiatives span sectors such as roads, bridges, healthcare and education, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and public services in the district.

A key highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the Kundghat irrigation project, first initiated by Kumar in 2008. After nearly 18 years, the project has been completed and is expected to benefit farmers by improving irrigation across thousands of acres of agricultural land.

Officials described the scheme as a significant boost for the region’s agrarian economy, where water access has long been a constraint.

During the visit, Kumar also inspected departmental stalls showcasing various government programmes and held a review meeting with officials and public representatives. He directed authorities to accelerate ongoing works and ensure timely completion of projects.

The chief minister interacted with local residents at the event, listening to grievances and issuing on-the-spot instructions to officials. He reiterated that the government’s priority was to expand infrastructure across Bihar and deliver development schemes efficiently.

The Jamui visit forms part of a broader outreach effort under the Samriddhi Yatra, through which the state government has been announcing and reviewing development initiatives across districts.
