Patna: Hundreds of teacher aspirants staged a protest march in Patna on Wednesday, voicing frustration over delays in the fourth phase of teacher recruitment under the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).
The demonstration, described by organisers as a “Maha Andolan”, began at Patna University’s Patna College campus and moved through key city roads, with participants carrying placards and raising slogans demanding immediate release of the TRE-4 notification.
Protesters said they had been waiting for months for clarity on recruitment timelines and vacancies. Many accused authorities of unnecessary delays despite earlier assurances from the state government.
Some candidates alleged that instructions from Nitish Kumar to expedite recruitment had not been implemented effectively, blaming administrative inertia within the commission and related departments.
During the march, several participants expressed frustration at the lack of communication. One aspirant questioned why the notification had not been issued despite prior commitments, calling the delay unfair to lakhs of job seekers.
The protesters warned that the agitation would intensify if the notification was not published soon on the commission’s official website. Their key demands include the release of an exam calendar and transparent disclosure of the number of vacancies.
Police and district authorities were deployed in the area and sought to engage with the demonstrators, urging them to maintain order. However, the candidates indicated they would continue their protests until concrete assurances were provided.
The standoff has drawn attention across Bihar, with the recruitment delay emerging as a key concern among unemployed youth in the state.
