Patna: A book review session examining the Japanese novel Before the Coffee Gets Cold was held at Patna Women’s College on March 18, bringing together students and faculty for a discussion on time, memory and human emotion.
Organised by the Kitab Club in collaboration with the department of history, the event took place at Carmel Hall and featured a presentation by Kanak, a second-semester English student. Her review explored the emotional depth of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, highlighting how its central theme of time travel intersects with human relationships and personal longing.

An expert commentary was delivered by Dr Zarin Fatima, head of the department of economics, who expanded on the novel’s themes and offered a critical perspective that engaged the audience. The session concluded with a discussion that reflected on the philosophical and emotional dimensions of revisiting the past.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Sister Celine Crasta, head of the department of history, who also presented a plant sapling to Fatima as a token of appreciation. It was coordinated by Dr Priyanka, Kitab Club coordinator and assistant professor in the department.

Faculty members from the history department attended the session, which was moderated by Mariyum Fatima, a postgraduate student, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Anushka Singh Rathore.
