Patna: Patna’s Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park has gone digital. On the occasion of World Sparrow Day, Dr Pramod Kumar, Minister for the Department of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, inaugurated the zoo’s new mobile app and website, aimed at offering visitors a seamless and informative experience.
The app consolidates a range of features into a single platform. Visitors can now book tickets online, navigate the zoo with an integrated map, access detailed information on animals and plants, listen to audio guides, submit feedback, and even use a ‘Lost & Found’ service. Tickets are delivered as QR codes via email and WhatsApp, allowing for smooth, contactless entry.
Dr Hemant Patil, Director of Patna Zoo, highlighted the app’s navigation function as particularly useful for first-time visitors, helping them find their way around the sprawling park. “Newcomers often struggle with directions. The app ensures they can explore the zoo without confusion,” he said.
The ‘Lost & Found’ feature is designed with families in mind. Guardians can upload details and photographs of a missing child, connecting directly with the zoo’s control room for immediate assistance.
In addition, a special segment on sparrows has been added to the zoo’s library, part of an effort to raise awareness about the bird and other wildlife. Anand Kishor, Additional Chief Secretary of the Department, noted that information on various species is now easily accessible via the app and website.
With this digital initiative, Patna Zoo aims to make visits more convenient, educational, and secure, leveraging technology to enhance both tourism and wildlife awareness.
