Patna: Bihar has intensified efforts to stabilise LPG supply and address distribution bottlenecks, with the state government issuing a series of directives aimed at improving transparency and curbing black marketing.
At a high-level review meeting chaired by chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Friday, senior officials including the director general of police, district magistrates, superintendents of police and representatives from major oil and gas companies assessed the current situation and backlog in cylinder distribution across the state.
Abhay Singh, secretary of the food and consumer protection department, presented a detailed overview of supply conditions and pending deliveries, along with suggestions from district administrations to streamline distribution and clear backlogs.
Control rooms, daily briefings mandated
To ensure a citizen-focused approach, the chief secretary directed all districts to keep control rooms fully operational for prompt grievance redressal.
District public relations officers have also been instructed to hold daily press briefings at 3pm to provide accurate updates and counter misinformation regarding gas availability.

Authorities have ordered intensified raids in border districts to check illegal hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders. Officials said strict legal action would be taken against those found violating norms.
The move comes amid concerns over supply disruptions and reports of irregularities in some areas.
Public urged to avoid panic
The state government appealed to residents not to rely on rumours and assured that adequate measures are in place to maintain normal supply.
Officials said the latest steps are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the LPG supply chain and ensure timely delivery of cylinders to consumers across Bihar.
