Patna: Bihar marked its foundation day on Sunday with messages from top national leaders that combined celebration with subtle political signalling about the state’s future.
President Droupadi Murmu, prime minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah extended greetings on the occasion of Bihar Day, highlighting both the region’s historical legacy and its development potential.
In her message, Murmu described Bihar as the “mother of democracy”, referring to its association with some of the earliest republican traditions in the world. She noted that the state has long contributed to India’s cultural, spiritual and political heritage.
The president also expressed confidence that the people of Bihar, through their talent and hard work, would continue to play a significant role in the country’s progress.
The messages, shared on social media platform X, were widely seen as reflecting a broader narrative that links Bihar’s past with its aspirations for growth—an approach that carries resonance in the state’s evolving political landscape.
