Patna: Anant Singh, the JD(U) MLA from Mokama, was released from Beur Jail in Patna on Monday after spending nearly four months in custody, prompting large gatherings of supporters outside the prison.
Supporters assembled in significant numbers, raising slogans and celebrating his release as Singh left the jail premises in a Land Cruiser, accompanied by a convoy of dozens of vehicles.
After his release, Singh travelled to his MLA quarters in Patna, where he greeted supporters who had gathered to welcome him. His residence was decorated with flowers, and celebrations included fireworks and preparations for a large community feast.
Organisers said arrangements had been made to serve a variety of food items to supporters, including sweets such as rasgullas along with savoury dishes.

Slogans praising Singh were raised by supporters, reflecting his continued influence in the region. He is scheduled to travel to his constituency in Mokama on March 24, where a roadshow of around 50km has been planned. The route will culminate at the Barahiya Maharani Sthan temple, with supporters expected to line the route.
Singh was arrested on November 1, 2025, in connection with the murder of Dularchand Yadav during the Bihar assembly election campaign. He was subsequently remanded to judicial custody and lodged in Beur Jail on November 2.
After approximately four months in custody, Singh has now been granted bail.
