Patna: As Bihar Diwas celebrations continue, the Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. (BSFC) has inaugurated an information and public awareness stall at Gandhi Maidan, Patna. The initiative, operating under the Department of Food and Consumer Protection, aims to provide citizens with detailed insights into the state’s food grain distribution system and associated welfare schemes. The stall will remain open to the public until March 24.
The stall was formally inaugurated by BSFC Managing Director Sunil Kumar, with senior officials including Chief General Manager (Procurement) Mrityunjay Kumar, General Managers Shailendra Kumar and Rakesh Raman, Deputy General Manager Jyoti Shankar, and Company Secretary Rachna in attendance.
Visitors to the stall can access information on a wide range of programmes implemented under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), including the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana (PM POSHAN), Welfare Institutions and Hostels Scheme (WIHS), Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG), and the Wheat-Based Nutrition Programme (WBNP). The role of BSFC in facilitating these schemes, particularly in ensuring transparency and timely delivery, is also highlighted.
The stall provides guidance on essential services such as Ration Cards, Aadhaar seeding (e-KYC), paddy and wheat procurement, grievance redressal mechanisms, and the use of modern technologies including GPS-based monitoring and Vehicle Tracking Systems to ensure transparency in food grain transportation. Farmers are being educated on the paddy and wheat procurement process, including how to access the Minimum Support Price (MSP) set by the government.
A special exhibition showcasing nutritious fortified rice has become a key attraction, offering visitors insight into its health benefits. Officials, including Deputy General Managers Neeraj Kumar Sharma and Nazli Hasnain, are present to engage with the public, listen to concerns, and provide practical guidance on accessing state schemes.
“The initiative represents a significant step towards making Bihar’s food grain supply system more robust, transparent, and people-centric,” said Sunil Kumar. Citizens are encouraged to visit the stall to learn more about the government’s welfare schemes and services.
