Patna: Indian Railways has introduced a new passenger special train service between Patna and Gaya to ease congestion and improve convenience for daily commuters on the busy route.
The special train, numbered 03611/03612, will operate with 22 coaches, including 20 general class and two SLR coaches, according to East Central Railway chief public relations officer Saraswati Chandra.
Officials said the service is expected to benefit daily commuters, working professionals and small traders who frequently travel between the two cities.
Train number 03611 Patna-Gaya Passenger Special will run daily from March 23 to April 6, departing from Patna at 5:15pm and reaching Gaya at 8:35pm. The train will halt at all major and minor stations along the route, including Punpun, Jatdumri, Taregana, Jehanabad, Tehta and Bela.
On the return journey, train number 03612 Gaya-Patna Passenger Special will operate from March 24 to April 6, leaving Gaya at 5:00am and arriving in Patna at 8:00am, stopping at the same stations.
Railway officials said the introduction of this additional service is aimed at reducing passenger load on existing trains and providing relief during peak travel hours, particularly in the morning and evening.
The move is part of ongoing efforts by Indian Railways to enhance connectivity and improve passenger experience on key regional routes.
