Bihar records 40% rainfall deficit this monsoon
Bihar has received around 40% less rainfall than normal so far this monsoon season. Only a few districts recorded rainfall during the past 24 hours.
The rainfall deficit continues despite intermittent showers in some parts of the state, with monsoon activity remaining relatively weak.
Weather systems driving cloud movement
According to the Meteorological Department, a well-marked low-pressure area over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas remains active.
A monsoon trough is also extending from Amritsar through Najibabad and Hardoi towards the Bay of Bengal. The combined influence of these weather systems is expected to keep cloud movement active over Bihar.
Some areas may receive light rain or drizzle, but the weather department does not currently expect widespread heavy rainfall across the state.
