Rohtas: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday launched a series of development initiatives in Rohtas district, inaugurating and laying the foundation for 308 projects worth approximately Rs 480 crore during his Samriddhi Yatra.
The event, held at the BMP-2 ground in Dehri, marked a significant push towards strengthening infrastructure and boosting local employment opportunities in the district.
According to district magistrate Udita Singh, 179 completed projects worth Rs 158.59 crore were inaugurated and dedicated to the public. In addition, foundation stones were laid for 129 new projects valued at Rs 321.5 crore.
Officials said the projects are aimed at addressing future infrastructure needs while generating employment at the local level.
During his visit, the chief minister also inspected a water treatment plant, part of his “Water-Life-Greenery” initiative. He reviewed the progress of the intake well construction designed to draw water from the Son River and examined a 3D model of the facility.
Authorities said the project is expected to provide a long-term solution to drinking water issues in Dehri and nearby areas.
Addressing a large gathering, Kumar highlighted the work carried out by his government since 2005, stating that efforts had been made to empower all sections of society, particularly women, and to improve law and order in the state.
He also visited stalls set up by various government departments and interacted with beneficiaries of different schemes.
Deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary, who was present at the event, said Bihar had made significant progress in infrastructure, particularly in electricity and road connectivity. He also announced that steps would be taken to identify migrant workers and create employment opportunities for them within the state.
The Samriddhi Yatra is being seen as part of the government’s broader outreach and development strategy across Bihar.
