New Delhi: The central government has dismissed reports suggesting changes to LPG cylinder booking rules, clarifying that existing guidelines remain unchanged.
Recent media reports had claimed that beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) would be required to wait 45 days before booking a refill, while other consumers would face a 35-day gap.
However, the ministry of petroleum and natural gas said no such changes had been introduced. It reiterated that consumers can continue to book a refill 25 days after the delivery of their previous cylinder.
Officials said the clarification was issued to counter misinformation and reassure consumers amid growing confusion.

Meanwhile, the government has increased the allocation of 19kg commercial LPG cylinders by an additional 20%, taking the total quota for states and Union territories to 50%.
The move comes in response to rising demand for commercial cylinders, which has outpaced that of domestic 14.2kg cylinders.
Distributors said it may take a few days for the increased supply to be reflected on the ground.
