Patna: Leading plastic surgeons from across India performed a series of live, high-definition operations at AIIMS Patna on Friday as part of a workshop aimed at strengthening hands-on training in aesthetic plastic surgery.
The event, titled the IAAPS–AIIMS Patna Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Operative Workshop and BJPSA Midterm Academic Meet, is being organised by the Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery at AIIMS Patna in collaboration with the Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the Bihar Jharkhand Plastic Surgeons Association.
Bringing together surgeons, academics and trainees, the programme is structured around the theme “Aesthetic Mastery: From Fundamentals to Finesse”, with an emphasis on experiential learning and technical refinement in surgical practice.

A range of procedures were demonstrated during the first day of the workshop, including breast reduction and blepharoplasty performed by Dr Sandeep Sharma, abdominoplasty by Dr Medha Bhave, breast augmentation by Dr Rajat Gupta, rhinoplasty by Dr Venkat R Yamani and jaw feminisation surgery by Dr Dinesh Kadam. The operations were broadcast live to delegates, allowing step-by-step observation of surgical planning, technique and intraoperative decision-making.
Organisers said the format was designed to encourage interaction between operating surgeons and attendees, with participants engaging in real-time discussion and questioning throughout the procedures.
Medical education increasingly relies on such live surgical demonstrations to bridge the gap between theoretical training and clinical practice, particularly in specialised fields such as aesthetic plastic surgery.
The workshop continues at AIIMS Patna with further sessions aimed at advancing surgical skills and standardising best practices in patient care and cosmetic outcomes.
