Patna: Indian Railways has announced three new train services for Bihar ahead of the summer holiday season, aiming to ease passenger congestion during peak travel months. While the timetables for the trains have been released, officials said the dates of operation will be announced shortly.
Among the new services is the Ahmedabad–Patna Amrit Bharat Express (train numbers 21905 and 21906). The train will depart from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 pm and reach Patna at 12:30 am on Thursday. On the return journey, it will leave Patna on Fridays at 10:30 pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 5:25 am on Sundays.
Another addition is the Patna–Rajgir Express (train numbers 13354 and 13353), which will depart from Patna at 9:20 am and reach Rajgir at 12:45 pm. The return service will leave Rajgir at 3:10 pm and arrive in Patna at 6:45 pm.
The third service, Saharsa–Jamalpur MEMU (train numbers 63398 and 63397), will depart from Saharsa at 5:15 am and reach Jamalpur at 8:05 am. On the return journey, it will leave Jamalpur at 9:45 pm and reach its destination at around 1:00 am.
Railway officials said the introduction of these trains is expected to provide relief from overcrowding, which typically intensifies during the summer vacation period as passenger demand increases.
In addition to the new services, the Railways has extended the operational period of several summer special trains originating from Bihar. Three additional special trains have also been announced, connecting the state to major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Surat. These services are expected to run during May and June to accommodate increased travel demand.
Officials said further details regarding the commencement of services and booking schedules will be announced soon.
