Gaya: A preparatory meeting for the first alumni meet of Magadh University — titled ‘Mahasangam 2026’ — was held in Bodh Gaya on Wednesday, with university officials outlining plans to make the April 25 event a landmark gathering.
The meeting, attended by members of the university administration, deans, faculty and invited guests, also saw the release of the official brochure for the event.
Presiding over the session, vice-chancellor S.P. Shahi described alumni as an “invaluable asset” whose experiences and achievements contribute to strengthening the institution’s identity. He expressed confidence that the inaugural Mahasangam would bring former students together on a common platform while offering new direction for the university’s development.
The chief guest, Jayashankar Bihari, suggested that the programme should highlight alumni memories, struggles and achievements to inspire current students and enhance the university’s national profile. He also proposed dedicated sessions focusing on the university’s history, achievements and the evolution of its academic departments.
Registrar Vinod Kumar Mangalam said administrative preparations are underway, with multiple committees constituted to ensure smooth execution of the event. Faculty members, including Prof Nibha Singh, Prof Deepak Kumar, CCDC Prof Sanjay Kumar Tiwari and Prof S.N.P. Yadav, also shared suggestions during the meeting.
Officials emphasised the need for maximum alumni participation to ensure the event lives up to its name — a “grand confluence”.
Souvenir To Chronicle 65-Year Journey
A commemorative souvenir is also being prepared for the occasion under the coordination of Prof Nibha Singh. The publication will document the university’s 65-year journey, including its academic achievements, departmental growth, research contributions and experiences of alumni working in India and abroad.
The souvenir is scheduled to be formally released during the inaugural session of the alumni meet on April 25 by the Governor, who also serves as chancellor of the university.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Deepak Kumar, who urged stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring the success of the university’s first alumni gathering.
