Patna: A multi-level parking facility under construction at Patna Medical College and Hospital is set to be connected to the city’s double-decker flyover, with work on a key access ramp expected to be completed by next month.
Officials said the ramp — the first of its kind linking the flyover directly to the hospital campus— will significantly improve accessibility for patients and visitors. Work on girders is currently underway, while preparations for roofing have also begun.
The project involves the construction of three ramps to connect the flyover with the parking facility. Two of these will link to the upper deck of the flyover, while one will connect to the lower deck. Construction on one of the ramps is progressing at pace.
A key section of the ramp is being built on the eastern side of Anjuman Islamia Hall, which will integrate with the parking structure inside the PMCH campus. The distance between the flyover and the parking facility ranges between 75 and 100 metres.
To support the structure, three pillars are being erected to connect the ramp with the flyover. The Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation initiated construction after the required land was made available by metro authorities.
Officials said the project is expected to ease congestion around PMCH and streamline vehicle movement in one of Patna’s busiest areas.
Bakarganj Drain Project Faces Delay
In contrast, progress on the Bakarganj drain project in Patna remains slow, with construction still incomplete nearly three years after it began.
The project, part of the Patna Smart City initiative and overseen by Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation, was originally scheduled for completion in December 2023. However, as of April 2026, only around 60% of the work has been completed despite multiple revised deadlines, including a March 31 target set this year.
The drain project, estimated at approximately Rs 18.77 crore, continues to face delays, raising concerns about urban infrastructure execution even as other projects in the city move forward.
