Patna, 13th October 2023: A high-tension evening unfolded at Patna Junction on Friday when officials received an anonymous tip-off about a supposed bomb on the premises. The report prompted an immediate, exhaustive search by Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and a specialized bomb disposal squad. The search yielded no explosives, and attention has now turned toward locating the individual who made the false claim.
Around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the anonymous call was made to the mobile number of the Deputy Station Superintendent (Commercial). The caller claimed that a red-colored bag at Patna Junction contained a bomb and then promptly switched off the mobile phone.
Acting on the tip-off, the bomb disposal squad secured the entire area and initiated a thorough screening. Authorities employed Hand Held Metal Detectors (HHMD) to check passengers’ luggage and used Deep Search Metal Detectors (DSMD) to scan the complex. Additional inspections were carried out by the Swan Squad in platform areas, parking lots, and parcel rooms. Despite these comprehensive efforts, no suspicious objects were found.
As the search operation unfolded, police officers were keen to manage the situation discreetly to prevent the spread of rumors among passengers, as that could potentially lead to a stampede.
Meanwhile, efforts to identify the informant are ongoing. Preliminary investigations reveal that the call originated from a mobile number registered in Andhra Pradesh, currently being used by a person named Bittu Yadav. His last known location was near a biscuit factory in Digha, and police raids are being conducted to apprehend him.
Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant but also warned against spreading unverified information that could cause public panic.
