Patna, 14th October 2023: Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Building Construction Department and Commissioner for the Patna Division, conducted a site inspection of the under-construction Patna Collectorate complex today. The visit aimed to evaluate the construction’s physical progress and ensure that the building meets all functional and safety specifications.
According to Commissioner Ravi, construction began on May 18, 2022, with a targeted completion date set for June 2024. However, he expressed optimism that the construction would conclude by the end of the current financial year in March 2024.
During his visit, Ravi meticulously reviewed floor-wise and block-wise construction timelines, emergency evacuation plans, fire safety measures, and other essential facilities like toilets, ventilation, and lighting. He also examined a fully prepared sample room and issued further instructions to the officials for refinement.
District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh informed Ravi that a sub-committee, chaired by the Deputy Development Commissioner, continually monitors the project’s progress. This sub-committee includes special officers and divisional and building executive engineers.
The new Collectorate building will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including adequate public seating, high-quality toilets, and drinking water stations. It will house 39 departments over five floors, in addition to a basement and ground floor. Two additional blocks—SDO and DDC block, and District Board Office and Multipurpose Building block—will also be part of the complex.
The design of the building incorporates both traditional and modern architectural styles. The construction project covers a land area of 43,454 square meters (approximately 10.74 acres), with a built-up area of 28,388 square meters. Green and environmentally friendly features like maximum use of solar panels and natural air and light have been prioritized.
As for security and emergency measures, the building will be equipped with 200-225 CCTV cameras, modern fire safety systems, and systematic evacuation facilities. The complex will also offer around 205 open parking spots and about 240 basement parking facilities.
Commissioner Ravi stated, “This complex, located on the banks of the Ganga River, will be an architectural marvel and a one-stop solution for the residents of the district. All the offices of the district administration will be under one roof, making services more accessible to citizens.”
The building is being constructed by Construction Division-1 of the Building Construction Department.
