Patna: The district court in Hajipur was evacuated on Monday after authorities received an anonymous email threatening to blow up the premises, prompting a large-scale security response.
Police said the alert led to immediate action under the direction of superintendent of police Vikram Sihag, with senior officers and additional personnel deployed to the site. The Sadar sub-divisional police officer, Subodh Kumar, confirmed that the threat had been communicated via email and was being treated with urgency.
Entry to the court complex was suspended and people inside — including lawyers, litigants and shopkeepers — were escorted out as a precaution. Officials said a bomb disposal squad had been called in from Muzaffarpur to carry out a detailed inspection of the premises.
Security was tightened across the court complex and surrounding areas, with restrictions placed on movement nearby. Additional vigilance was also ordered at adjoining government offices as police continued their search operation.
Authorities said they remained on high alert while investigations into the source of the threat were under way.
