Patna: In a major crackdown on illegal drug supply, the Drug Control Administration seized a large consignment of narcotic injections from a warehouse in Patna on Monday. The operation was carried out in the Raniganj area under Bypass police station limits.
Officials recovered around 78,000 narcotic injections packed in 39 cartons from a warehouse operated by Om Logistic. The seized consignment is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 27.30 lakh. A case has been registered against seven individuals, of whom four were arrested on the spot.
Drug Control Administration officer Jitendra Kumar said the action was based on specific intelligence inputs. Authorities had received information that a large consignment of narcotic injections was being transported into the city via a pickup vehicle.
Acting on the tip-off, officials intercepted the vehicle and recovered an initial batch of injections. Based on the information provided by the arrested accused, a raid was conducted at the warehouse in Raniganj.
During the search operation carried out around 11 am, officials found a substantial quantity of injections stored in cartons. Authorities described it as one of the largest seizures of its kind in the region so far.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the seized injections were manufactured by a company identified as Narodian Pharmacist and marketed through an agency named Quick Pharma. Cases have been registered against both entities, and further legal action is underway.
Officials said two key accused, identified as Ravi and Neeraj, are suspected to be the masterminds behind the network. Efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest them. Initial findings suggest that the illegal supply chain may not be limited to Bihar and could be linked to inter-state trafficking.
According to the Drug Control Administration, the network may have been operating for a long time under the guise of medical supply, distributing narcotic injections for illegal use. Such substances are often abused, leading to addiction and serious health risks, particularly among youth.
An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The arrested accused are being interrogated to uncover the full extent of the network.
The operation involved officials including Jaswant Kumar and Shweta Kumari from the Drug Control Administration, along with personnel from Bypass and Bahadurpur police stations. Authorities said similar drives against illegal drug trade will be intensified in the coming days.
