Patna: Samrat Choudhary, who is set to take oath as chief minister of Bihar, has declared total assets worth approximately Rs 11.35 crore, according to his election affidavit filed during the 2025 assembly polls.
Choudhary, elected as leader of the BJP legislature party, is scheduled to be sworn in at 11am on Wednesday in Patna.
No liabilities, modest cash holdings
The affidavit states that Choudhary has no outstanding debts or liabilities.
At the time of filing, he reported holding around Rs 1.35 lakh in cash, while his wife declared Rs 35,000 in cash. Bank deposits across their accounts totalled more than Rs 27 lakh.
Gold, silver and vehicle assets
Choudhary owns approximately 200 grams of gold valued at around Rs 30 lakh. His wife holds gold of similar value, along with silver worth about Rs 75,000, taking the family’s total jewellery holdings to roughly Rs 60 lakh.
Among movable assets, he has declared ownership of a Bolero Neo vehicle valued at about Rs 7 lakh. The affidavit also lists an NP-bore rifle worth around Rs 4 lakh and a revolver valued at approximately Rs 2 lakh.
Investments in funds and insurance
Choudhary’s financial portfolio includes investments in mutual funds such as Franklin India Equity Fund, HDFC Midcap Opportunities Fund and Nippon India Retirement Fund.
He has also invested around Rs 10 lakh in a Public Provident Fund (PPF) account and holds insurance policies with LIC and SBI Life.
As preparations continue for the swearing-in ceremony, disclosures around Choudhary’s financial profile have drawn attention alongside his political rise.
Officials said the asset details reflect a mix of traditional holdings and financial investments, with no liabilities declared ahead of his assumption of office.
