Patna Women’s College Launches AI and Machine Learning Lecture Series with Expert Speaker
Patna: The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning inaugurated its much-anticipated Lecture Series today, with Dr. Atif Faridi, a renowned expert from Care Fusion Development Pvt. Ltd., delivering the opening lecture. The first session, titled “Getting Started with Machine Learning: Building Your First Model,” provided participants with an insightful introduction to the fundamentals of machine learning.
The event commenced with a symbolic gesture of watering a plant, a metaphor for nurturing growth and well-being, which aligned with the overarching theme of the series. Poonam Abraham Lakra, Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, hosted the session, extending a warm welcome to Dr. Faridi. The guest speaker was presented with a sapling by Dr. Priyadarshini, Head of the Department of Data Science, as a token of appreciation.
Dr. Faridi began the lecture with an overview of machine learning, setting the stage for a detailed exploration of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). Using the classic Iris flower dataset, he demonstrated the step-by-step process of building and evaluating a basic machine learning model. The session was highly interactive, featuring an enthusiastic Q&A segment where students engaged with Dr. Faridi, seeking guidance on practical applications and addressing common challenges in the field.
The lecture provided a solid foundation for beginners in machine learning, sparking interest in future sessions within the series. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Hera Shaheen, Assistant Professor, Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
