Patna: Bihar’s former chief minister Nitish Kumar has been granted Z+ category security cover across the country following his recent resignation, alongside the allocation of an official government residence in New Delhi.
While Kumar is expected to continue living primarily at his home on Circular Road in Patna, he has been assigned a Type-8 bungalow on Sunehri Bagh Road in New Delhi. Residences in this category are typically reserved for senior political figures, including Union home minister Amit Shah and defence minister Rajnath Singh.
The newly allotted bungalow, numbered 9, spans approximately three acres and is equipped with extensive security arrangements and modern facilities. It includes five bedrooms, a living and dining area, a study, and six staff quarters, with the entire premises monitored through a network of CCTV cameras.
Kumar will also be living in close proximity to BJP leader Nitin Nabin, who occupies bungalow number 8 in the same area.
In Patna, preparations for Kumar’s relocation have been underway, with most of his belongings already shifted from the former chief minister’s official residence at 1 Aney Marg to his new address on Circular Road. The residence lies near the home of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family.
Kumar has remained out of public view since stepping down on April 14 and is reported to have stayed indoors for more than 36 hours. He is expected to formally move into his new Patna residence soon.
