Patna: A man has been arrested in Gujarat for allegedly issuing a death threat to Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary, police said on Friday, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the call.
The accused, identified as Shekhar Yadav, a native of Banka district in Bihar, was apprehended in Sanand near Ahmedabad by a team of Munger police with assistance from local authorities.
Officials said the threat was issued via a phone call, prompting Bihar Police to register a case at the Sangrampur police station in Munger and launch a discreet investigation.
Phone Tracking Leads To Arrest
According to investigators, forensic analysis of the mobile number used to make the call traced its tower location to Gujarat. A police team was subsequently dispatched to the state, where they coordinated with Ahmedabad police to locate and arrest the suspect.
Yadav, who was working as a daily wage labourer in Gujarat, is being brought back to Bihar on transit remand for further questioning.
Probe Into Motive
Police said they are examining the circumstances surrounding the threat, including whether the accused acted alone or had any accomplices.
The incident has drawn attention within the state’s law enforcement agencies, with officials treating the matter as serious given the nature of the threat against a sitting chief minister.
Further investigation is underway.
