Patna: The Special Vigilance Unit has registered a case against Rajiv Kumar, an executive engineer in the state’s urban development and housing department, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The case, numbered 15/2026, has been filed under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
Allegations Of Illicit Asset Accumulation
According to officials, Kumar, currently posted in the procurement and quality control wing, is alleged to have misused his position to acquire assets worth approximately Rs 1.10 crore beyond his legitimate income.
Investigators said the assets were accumulated during his tenure across various postings in the department.
Raids Across Multiple Locations
Following preliminary findings, a search warrant was issued by a vigilance court in Patna, leading to simultaneous raids at multiple locations linked to the accused.
Search operations were carried out at residential flats on Ramnagari Road and Khagaul Road in Danapur, as well as at his office in Pant Bhawan. Teams began searches early in the morning, examining documents and financial records.
Officials said bank accounts, property papers and investment details are being scrutinised as part of the investigation.
Probe Underway
Sources indicated that key documents related to suspected investments may be recovered during the searches, which could shed light on how the alleged assets were acquired and whether others were involved.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing, with further details expected to emerge in the coming days as evidence is analysed.
