Patna: Authorities in state capital Patna have ordered all schools to get closed by 11:30 am as soaring temperatures and intense sunlight raise concerns over children’s safety.
The directive, issued by Patna district magistrate Thiyagarajan SM, applies to all government and the private schools, as well as anganwadi centres and the pre-schools. Officials said the move is aimed at protecting students from the health risks associated with extreme midday heat.
In an official statement, the district administration warned that prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight during afternoon hours could adversely affect children’s well-being. Acting on these concerns, authorities have restricted academic activities for students up to class VIII beyond 11:30 am.

School authorities across the district have been instructed to strictly comply with the revised schedule. The temporary measure will remain in force from Monday up to Wednesday next week.
