Nalanda: Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary visited the Tildiha Durga Temple in Nalanda on Sunday, where he offered prayers and pledged the comprehensive development of the temple complex, according to officials.
Choudhary arrived at the temple around 3pm, ahead of schedule, and spent about 20 minutes inside the premises. He was received by administrative officials with a guard of honour before chief priest Shyam Acharya conducted rituals inside the sanctum, accompanied by Vedic chanting. The chief minister, joined by BJP workers, offered 101 kilograms of laddus as bhog and prayed for the prosperity of the state.
Speaking during the visit, Choudhary said he had a “deep personal attachment” to the temple since childhood and promised to support its expansion and redevelopment. The temple, established in 1603, is currently being developed as part of a broader plan to promote tourism in the region. Officials said a detailed blueprint is being prepared, which includes expanding the inspection bungalow, building a one-acre parking facility near Chhatrahar, and constructing a dedicated corridor for devotees.
Choudhary also inspected ongoing infrastructure work in the area, including a riverfront development project and a high-level bridge, and issued directions to district officials. He said the government aimed to ensure “rivers of development” across Bihar under the NDA administration.
Several local legislators and BJP leaders, including Amarpur MLA Jayant Raj Kushwaha, Belhar MLA Manoj Yadav, Dhoreya MLA Manish Kumar, and Munger MLA Kumar Pranay, were present and welcomed the chief minister with garlands and bouquets.
Senior administrative and police officials, including the divisional commissioner, inspector general, district magistrates and superintendents of police from Banka and Munger, were deployed for security. Entry to the temple was restricted to those with passes.
