Patna: A plantation drive themed “More Plants, More Health, More Happiness” was organised at St Michael’s High School, Patna on April 28, with active participation from students of the primary section.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness among young learners about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living.
Students Take Part In Tree Plantation
Around 50 students from Class 5 planted saplings within the school premises, highlighting the role of greenery in maintaining ecological balance.
The programme began with a prayer and was inaugurated by principal Fr. A. Christu Savarirajan and vice-principal Sister Magdali Beck through a symbolic gesture representing care for the planet.

Focus On Environmental Responsibility
Addressing the gathering, the principal emphasised the importance of plants in sustaining life, noting their role in providing oxygen, conserving resources and combating environmental challenges.
He urged students to recognise their responsibility towards protecting nature.

Creative Awareness Activities
The event also featured student-led activities, including speeches, a poem and a street play, focusing on themes such as climate change and the need to address global warming.
Organisers said the activities were designed to engage students creatively while reinforcing key environmental messages.

Encouraging Early Action
The drive sought to instil environmental awareness at an early age and encourage students to adopt small but meaningful actions for a greener future.
Officials said such initiatives play an important role in fostering long-term behavioural change and promoting sustainability among younger generations.
