Patna: Political tensions in Bihar have escalated following the police encounter of the prime accused in the murder of a municipal executive officer in Sultanganj, Bhagalpur. The incident has triggered a fresh war of words between the ruling alliance and the opposition.
The Janata Dal (United) has defended the police action, calling it a strong example of maintaining law and order. Adding to this, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi openly supported the Bhagalpur police and praised their action.
“सम्राट” की पराक्रमी सेना के सामने तो सिकंदर महान ने घुटने टेक दिए थें।
तेजस्वी यादव गैंग के लोगों की क्या हैसियत।
खैर अब तो मैं यही कहूँगा,
ये नया बिहार है,
यहाँ गोली का जवाब तोप से दिया जाएगा।

Taking to X, Manjhi said, “This is the new Bihar; here, a bullet will be answered with a cannon,” while congratulating the police team. He also made sharp remarks that are being seen as a direct attack on Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav.
The development comes amid an ongoing political clash between the two leaders. Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav had criticised Manjhi over his remarks on the killing of a Bihar youth in Delhi, calling them “deplorable” and demanding an apology.
While the ruling coalition is projecting the encounter as a sign of strict governance and zero tolerance towards crime, the opposition is likely to question the police action, keeping the issue at the centre of Bihar’s political debate.
