Patna: The Bihar cabinet, chaired by chief minister Samrat Chaudhary, on Wednesday approved a series of major infrastructure and welfare measures, including the extension of the Ganga Path to Buxar.
Ganga Corridor Expansion
The cabinet gave its nod for the construction of the Ganga Path corridor from Koilwar to Buxar, a move aimed at improving connectivity along the river and boosting tourism.
It also approved the development of the Buxar–Arrah–Maner Ganga Path, spanning around 90 km, under the public-private partnership model.
Additionally, a new “Narayani Path” will be developed in Saran, while the existing Koilwar Path will be renamed “Vishwamitra Path”.
Power Subsidy And Infrastructure
The government sanctioned Rs 23,165 crore towards electricity subsidies, to be paid directly to NTPC Limited, ensuring continued relief for consumers and stable power supply.
Two major road projects—the Bidupur–Dighwara stretch (56 km) and the Saran–Gopalganj stretch (73.51 km)—also received approval.
An allocation of Rs 3,601 crore was cleared for the maintenance and IoT-based monitoring of nearly 29,933 rural water supply schemes.
Education And Employment Push
The cabinet approved the establishment of model schools in every district and block, alongside plans to open degree colleges in 208 blocks under the “Saat Nishchay-3” programme.
To support this expansion, 9,152 new posts have been created.
The government also cleared the way for recruitment and promotions in 20,937 posts in the Bihar Police.
Welfare And Social Initiatives
The monthly hostel allowance for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students has been doubled from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000.
A centre of excellence for children with autism will be set up in Gardanibagh in Patna.
Urban Development
The cabinet approved Rs 93.75 crore for the Muzaffarpur Smart City project.
It also formally renamed the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park as “Patna Zoo”.
Officials said the decisions reflect a comprehensive push to strengthen infrastructure, education and public services across the state.
