Patna: A person was killed and another critically injured after a wall of an under-construction building collapsed during a severe storm in Danapur on Wednesday evening, officials said.
The incident occurred in the Rukanpura Devi Sthan area, on the outskirts of Patna, triggering panic among residents.
Wall Collapse During Storm
According to eyewitnesses, a section of the wall from the sixth floor of the building gave way suddenly amid strong winds, trapping two passersby under the debris.
Local residents rushed to the spot and launched rescue efforts, pulling both victims out before emergency teams arrived.
Casualties And Treatment
Both injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. One of them, identified as Sunny Kumar, was admitted to Paras Hospital in Raja Bazaar.
The other victim was taken to Kurji Holy Family Hospital, where one of the injured later succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
Police Investigation Underway
Police and administrative officials reached the scene soon after the incident.
Station House Officer Shashi Bhushan Singh of Danapur police station confirmed that two individuals were critically injured in the collapse, and one death has been recorded.
Officials said an investigation has been initiated to determine whether any negligence in construction contributed to the accident.
Preliminary reports indicate that the under-construction building is linked to a local owner, though authorities are verifying details.
